Olivia + Andrew’s Brunch Wedding at FIVE Event Center in Minneapolis
Olivia and Andrew were married on November 2, 2025, at FIVE Event Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Their wedding brought together ivory, pomegranate, deep burgundy, and black for a warm late fall color palette. The exposed brick, dark accents, wood floors, and glowing pendant lights inside FIVE gave the whole day a modern setting with just enough rustic character.
But some of the best details were not chosen because they looked pretty.
They had history behind them.
From dried rose petals collected throughout Olivia and Andrew’s relationship to private vows before the ceremony, their wedding was full of small choices that actually meant something to them.
And instead of an evening reception, they celebrated with a brunch wedding.
A November Wedding at FIVE Event Center in Minneapolis
FIVE Event Center gave Olivia and Andrew a lot of visual variety without needing to move their wedding to multiple locations.
The venue has exposed brick, warm wood floors, black metal railings, large globe lights, and a two level layout that gave us several different places for portraits.
FIVE currently describes itself as a historic, dual level event venue in Uptown Minneapolis that can host both wedding ceremonies and receptions.
For photography, I especially loved using the brick walls and hanging lights.
They gave Olivia and Andrew’s portraits a clean, modern feel while still fitting the slightly rustic look Olivia wanted for the wedding.
The reception space also photographed beautifully with white linens, black chairs, and pomegranate napkins bringing their color palette into the room.
Ivory and Pomegranate Wedding Details
Olivia described their wedding colors as ivory and pomegranate, and those colors carried through the entire day.
The bridesmaids wore rich pomegranate and burgundy dresses in different styles.
Andrew and his groomsmen wore black suits with deep red bow ties and matching accents.
The reception tables stayed mostly neutral with white linens and simple centerpieces. Bright pomegranate napkins added color without making the room feel too busy.
That balance worked especially well inside FIVE.
There was already plenty of texture from the exposed brick, dark walls, warm floors, and lighting. Keeping the table design simple allowed the venue and the color palette to work together instead of competing.
Wedding Details That Told Their Story
Olivia and Andrew’s detail photos brought both sides of their wedding style together.
Their invitation suite was simple and classic. I photographed it alongside Olivia’s jewelry, perfume, ivory shoes, Andrew’s black dress shoes, his pomegranate bow tie, eucalyptus, baby’s breath, and dried rose petals.
Those rose petals were one of the most meaningful details from the entire day.
They were not purchased just for the ceremony.
Olivia had saved and dried petals from flowers Andrew had given her throughout their relationship.
They later scattered those petals down the aisle where she would walk toward him.
I love details like this because they would be easy for a guest to overlook.
In photographs, though, that little piece of their relationship becomes part of the story forever.
Olivia’s Lace Wedding Dress
Olivia wore an ivory lace wedding gown with a long train and an open back finished with delicate beaded straps.
Her gown came from The Wedding Shoppe in St. Paul, which currently carries bridal gowns and other wedding attire.
The long lace train looked especially beautiful against FIVE’s wood floors.
We used the venue’s upper level and exposed brick for several portraits so the texture of the dress could really stand out.
Against all of the darker architectural details, the ivory lace became the focus.
Private Vows Before the Ceremony
When Olivia was asked about her favorite moment from the wedding, she did not choose the reception, first kiss, or grand exit.
She chose their private vows.
Private vows are one of my favorite options for couples who want part of their wedding day to feel completely their own.
A traditional ceremony asks you to share a very personal moment while dozens or sometimes hundreds of people watch.
Some couples love that.
Others would rather say the most personal things privately and keep their ceremony vows a little simpler.
There is no right choice.
For Olivia and Andrew, taking that time together gave them one quiet part of the day before everything else began.
An Indoor Ceremony at FIVE Event Center
Olivia and Andrew were married indoors with Tom Armstrong officiating.
Their ceremony kept the attention on the two of them.
The wedding party stood nearby in black and pomegranate while their guests surrounded them.
Dried rose petals lined the aisle beneath Olivia’s feet.
And after they were officially married, Andrew gave her a full dip kiss at the end of the aisle.
It made for one of my favorite photos from their ceremony.
You can see the wedding party reacting behind them while the rose petals are scattered across the wood floor.
It feels celebratory without looking staged.
A Brunch Wedding in Minneapolis
One thing that made Olivia and Andrew’s wedding different from many of the weddings I photograph was the timeline.
This was a brunch wedding.
Instead of waiting until evening for dinner and a traditional nighttime reception, their guests celebrated with a brunch buffet catered by Green Mill Catering.
Green Mill currently offers catering for weddings and other events throughout the Twin Cities area.
Brunch weddings can be a great fit for couples who do not care about having a late night party.
They also create a completely different feel.
The day starts earlier, guests eat earlier, and the celebration can feel more relaxed than a traditional evening reception.
You can still include all of the important parts of a reception.
The timeline is simply shifted earlier.
Is a Brunch Wedding a Good Idea?
For the right couple, absolutely.
A brunch wedding can be especially helpful if you want a relaxed celebration or simply do not picture yourself dancing until midnight.
There are a few things I would think about before choosing one.
You Will Start Getting Ready Earlier
An earlier ceremony means hair, makeup, details, and getting ready photos also begin earlier.
Work backward from your ceremony time before deciding whether a brunch wedding sounds appealing.
Your Menu Can Be More Fun
A brunch reception does not have to feel like a watered down dinner reception.
Breakfast and brunch menus give you plenty of options guests do not normally see at weddings.
Olivia and Andrew chose a brunch buffet, which fit their daytime celebration perfectly.
You Can Still Have a Full Wedding Experience
Brunch does not mean skipping the things you care about.
You can still have getting ready photos, private vows, a ceremony, wedding party portraits, family photos, speeches, cake, dancing, and a grand exit.
You are simply doing them earlier.
Simple Baby’s Breath Wedding Flowers
Olivia wanted the flowers to stay simple.
Baby’s breath was used throughout the day, including in the bouquets and smaller reception arrangements.
Toni Crook created the floral arrangements.
The white flowers were a great choice with the stronger pomegranate accents.
Rather than adding another major color, the baby’s breath kept the floral design soft and neutral.
That allowed the bridesmaid dresses, bow ties, napkins, and other red details to stand out.
A Wedding Cake That Did Not Need to Be Complicated
Olivia and Andrew got their wedding cake from Sam’s Club.
And I think that is worth mentioning.
Wedding planning can make couples feel like every single item needs to come from a specialty wedding vendor.
It does not.
Spend more on the things you care deeply about.
Save money on the things you do not.
A wedding cake does not become more meaningful because it came with a higher price tag.
Your wedding budget should reflect your priorities, not somebody else’s checklist.
Wedding Party Photos Inside FIVE Event Center
Because so much of the venue already has visual interest, we did not need a complicated setup for wedding party portraits.
One of my favorite locations was a white wall covered in different mirrors.
The clean wall gave us a lighter background while the mismatched frames added personality.
Olivia and Andrew stood in the center with their wedding party surrounding them.
The pomegranate dresses created a strong pop of color against the white wall and warm wood floor.
Then we could move just a short distance and create a completely different look using exposed brick and dark walls.
That variety is one of the biggest advantages of photographing a wedding at a venue with several distinct interior spaces.
A Bubble Grand Exit
Olivia and Andrew ended their celebration with bubbles.
Their wedding party and family surrounded them as they walked out together while bubbles floated through the space.
Bubble exits are especially fun to photograph because they create movement without completely hiding the couple.
They also work well for daytime weddings.
Unlike sparklers, you do not have to wait until it gets dark.
For a brunch wedding, that makes bubbles a great grand exit option.
Olivia’s Advice for Future Brides
Olivia’s advice after going through the wedding planning process was simple:
Do not stress over the little things.
She pointed out that guests are there because of the people getting married.
They are not studying the font on your table numbers.
That is something worth remembering while planning.
There will always be another detail you could change.
Another decoration you could buy.
Another thing you could worry about.
At some point, you have to stop planning and actually experience your wedding.
Olivia said their day flowed smoothly and was everything she could have asked for.
That matters much more than whether every tiny detail was perfect.
From a College Job to Their Wedding Day
Olivia and Andrew first met while working a college job together.
Years later, Andrew proposed during one of their hikes.
They stopped beside the river along a trail they liked to walk, and he asked Olivia to marry him.
Their wedding carried some of that same approach.
It did not feel like they were trying to recreate somebody else’s idea of what a wedding should look like.
Olivia said she had never spent much time imagining her future wedding before meeting Andrew.
She always believed the person she married would influence what the wedding became.
And that is exactly what happened.
After celebrating with their family and friends in Minneapolis, they headed somewhere completely different for their honeymoon.
Argentina.

FIVE Event Center Wedding FAQ
Where is FIVE Event Center?
FIVE Event Center is located at 2917 Bryant Avenue South in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The venue describes itself as a historic, dual level event venue in Uptown Minneapolis.
Can you have both your ceremony and reception at FIVE Event Center?
Yes. FIVE currently offers the space for both wedding ceremonies and receptions.
For couples who want to avoid moving guests between locations, keeping everything in one venue can make the timeline much easier.
Is FIVE Event Center good for indoor wedding photography?
It gives photographers several different indoor backgrounds.
Exposed brick, wood floors, dark walls, pendant lighting, railings, and lighter areas throughout the venue allowed us to create several different looks during Olivia and Andrew’s wedding without leaving the building.
Is a brunch wedding cheaper than an evening wedding?
Not automatically.
Your total cost depends on your venue, catering, bar, guest count, rentals, vendors, and the specific choices you make.
A brunch wedding can open up different menu and scheduling options, but I would not choose one solely because you assume it will cost less.
How does photography work with a brunch wedding?
The biggest difference is the start time.
Getting ready and detail photos may begin early in the morning so everything can still happen before the ceremony.
A detailed photography timeline is especially important for a brunch wedding.
Are bubbles good for a daytime wedding exit?
Yes.
Bubbles photograph especially well during daytime exits because they catch the available light and create movement around the couple.
They are also a great alternative for weddings that end before dark.
Planning a Wedding That Feels Like You?
Olivia and Andrew’s wedding is a good reminder that there is no required formula for a wedding day.
You can have private vows.
You can serve brunch.
You can buy your cake somewhere simple.
You can walk down an aisle covered with rose petals saved throughout your relationship.
The best weddings are not the ones with the longest vendor list or the most expensive details.
They are the ones where the choices make sense for the people getting married.
At Willow + Rove Creative, I photograph weddings with a focus on the people, relationships, and little details that make each day different.
