Knoxville Botanical Gardens

Taylor and Jean decided to have their outdoor Knoxville winter engagements taken at one of my favorite locations, the Knoxville Botanical Gardens! Since it is the middle of January, colors are a little dreary, so the botanical gardens was the perfect spot to bring some color and life back into their session. It was an incredible location for some casual adventure, and a perfect day date for after our session!

I love suggesting my couples make a date night out of their engagement session, to make it more fun for everyone! Sometimes it’s hard to get everyone excited to take pictures, but planning a movie or a dinner date for after the pictures, is a great way to get everyone on board and excited for the event. Exploring the gardens with these two was an absolute dream! We were slightly worried about the weather for their outdoor Knoxville winter engagements but it was perfect.

The Perfect Outfit for Outdoor Knoxville Winter Engagements

When Taylor came to me for outfit advice, I was immediately thrilled! Her reaching out about potential outfit ideas was a great indication of them trying to make the most of the session. Being a Smoky Mountains elopement photographer, I’ve worked with countless couples, and having the couples ask for outfit advice always ensures the photos are going to be great.

Generally, our photography style looks best with light and bright neutral colors. Think pastels aside from whites and beiges as well! Instead of going too matchy matchy, consider wearing coordinating colors, or a patterned shirt that is easy to match with just like Taylor and Jean did! Coordinate the colors, but don’t buy matching flannels. Catch my drift?

Another quick tip, bring a second outfit for a little bit of a mix up. It allows for variety in the images, and is like you got two sessions in one! I always suggest a casual outfit, and a more dressed up option to provide options, or like Taylor, two dresses! This allowed for a variety of images that coordinated with their wedding colors. It was beautiful! These outdoor Knoxville winter engagements were the thing of dreams, and so much fun. We had a blast exploring the botanical gardens and capturing their love story.
